A shared client hub beats a hundred check-in emails
If a client can only find out where things stand by emailing you, you'll spend a large share of your week answering the same question in slightly different words each time. A shared hub — even a simple shared document or a basic portal — lets them check status themselves, whenever they want.
This doesn't remove the personal side of client work. I built one of these for my own process, and it quietly ended most of the status check emails I used to get. It removes the repetitive part. Clients still get real conversations with you; they just stop needing to ask where things stand because the answer is already sitting somewhere they can see for themselves.
Keep the hub simple. A short status line, key dates, and next steps cover most of what a client actually wants to know without you having to build anything elaborate around it.
Try this today: set up one simple shared place where a client can see current status, and point your next client toward it instead of answering that question by email.
