Watch for the onboarding step where people drop off

Every onboarding process has a weak point, a single step where more people stall out or disappear than at any other point along the way. Finding that step matters more than polishing the parts that are already working just fine. I check for this exact weak point in my own process regularly, since it is usually the same step every time until I fix it.

Look at where clients tend to go quiet, where forms get abandoned, or where you find yourself sending the most follow-up messages without much reply. That's your weak point, and it's usually the same one every time once you actually start paying attention to it.

Fix that one step before spending energy anywhere else in the process. A smoother finish doesn't help much if people are dropping off earlier than that in the first place.

Try this today: think back over your last several new clients and identify the one step where you had to chase the most people. Start there.
