Build a small bank of background footage

I keep a folder of simple background footage I can drop under a voiceover any time I need one without setting up a new shoot, hands working, a walk outside, a desk shot, a quiet room. It is not exciting footage on its own, but it gives me something to cut to whenever a clip needs a break from a single talking shot the whole way through.

This matters because building a whole new visual from scratch for every single post is slow, and most of the time a clip does not need anything fancy behind it, just something that is not the exact same shot for the entire length. A small bank solves that problem once, permanently.

Try this today: spend a short stretch of time this week capturing a handful of simple background shots you do not have an immediate use for. Save them somewhere labeled and easy to find. The next time you edit a voiceover and it feels flat, check that folder before you think about filming anything new.
