The task list test for what to automate first

When several tasks all seem worth automating, use a simple test to pick where to start: which one happens the most often, takes the least judgment, and would embarrass you least if it went slightly wrong while you are still learning. That task is your starting point, not whichever one sounds the most impressive to build. I score my own list this same way before starting anything new, and the winner is rarely the task I expected.

This matters because owners often start with the hardest, highest stakes task because fixing it feels the most satisfying, and then get discouraged when the first attempt is rough. Starting with a frequent, low stakes, simple task builds real skill and real trust in the process, which makes every automation after it easier and faster to get right.
