Seasonal spikes do not need a new hire

A busy season can feel like proof you need to grow your team, but a temporary spike in work is often better solved with a temporary system than a permanent hire. Once the busy stretch passes, a tool just goes quiet again, while a person you hired for the rush still needs a role, a paycheck, and real work to justify staying on.

This matters because hiring around a seasonal pattern locks you into an ongoing cost for a problem that only shows up part of the year. I've watched a business hire around a busy season and then keep paying for that role long after the rush had passed. A well-built automation can absorb the extra volume during the busy stretch and require almost nothing from you the rest of the year, which matches the actual shape of the problem far better than adding permanent payroll ever could.

Try this today: think back to your last busy season and identify the one task that piled up the most, then ask whether a system built ahead of time could carry that load next time around.
