Do not let an automation run untouched forever

An automation that has run without anyone checking it in a long stretch is not a success story — it is a risk you have stopped paying attention to. The tools around it keep changing even while the automation itself sits still.

This matters because "it just works" is exactly the phrase people say right before something breaks and nobody notices for weeks. A quiet automation gives false comfort. Meanwhile the account it logs into might be near expiring, the sheet it writes to might have shifted columns, or a partner's system might have updated in a way that only shows up the day something actually depends on it. I make it a habit to open my oldest automations on purpose, purely to confirm they still behave the way I remember building them.

Set a habit of opening old automations even when there is no reason to suspect trouble, purely because they have gone quiet.
