The follow-up email nobody has time to send

Follow-up is one of the most common places owners consider adding a hire, and it is also one of the easiest things to automate well. The message rarely changes much between people, the timing is usually predictable, and forgetting to send it costs you more than a slightly generic tone would. A simple, scheduled follow-up beats no follow-up every single time. I keep one solid follow-up message on hand for exactly this reason, so I never have to write one from scratch under pressure.

This matters because follow-up is exactly the kind of task that quietly disappears when you are busy, and it is also exactly the kind of task that brings in more work when it happens consistently. Instead of hiring someone whose whole job is remembering to check in, you can set a routine that sends the message on schedule and only asks for your attention when someone actually replies.

Try this today: write one solid follow-up message you would be comfortable sending to anyone, then set up a simple rule so it goes out automatically a set stretch of time after your first contact with someone.
