Keep a short decision log

A decision log is a running note of the calls you make and the reason behind each one. It sounds small, but it saves you from relitigating the same question every few months because nobody remembers why you chose what you chose. I keep mine in a plain document I update the same day I make a call, because the reasoning gets fuzzy in my own head if I wait even a week.

Founders waste a surprising amount of time re-arguing settled decisions with themselves and with their team. A short written record ends that. It also lets someone else step in and understand your reasoning without needing a meeting to explain it.

Try this today: open a document and write down the last decision you made, in a sentence or two, along with why. Add a new entry every time you make a call worth remembering, and point your team to it instead of re-explaining yourself each time.
