Too many notifications means too many tools
When I start getting pinged from six different apps in a single morning, that is not a sign I am well connected, it is a sign my stack has grown out of control. Notifications piling up from every direction is one of the clearest warnings that you have too many tools doing overlapping jobs.
This matters because constant pings train your attention to scatter. Every buzz pulls focus away from the actual work in front of you, and after enough interruptions your whole day turns into reacting instead of building anything meaningful. A smaller, tighter stack naturally means fewer places for alerts to come from, which means fewer moments where your focus gets pulled away.
The fix is not turning off every notification, some genuinely matter. The fix is asking why so many separate tools need your attention in the first place, and whether some of them could be combined or cut entirely.
Try this today: count how many different apps sent you a notification yesterday. If the number surprises you, pick the two least important sources and turn them off completely.
