Test with a spreadsheet before a live database

Before I connect any new tool to a live system, I test it against a plain spreadsheet copy first. Same shape of data, none of the risk of touching something real by mistake.

A spreadsheet is forgiving. You can break it, reset it, and try again without worry. A live database holding actual customer or order information is not the place to discover a mistake in your logic. Testing against a safe copy first lets you find and fix problems calmly, so that by the time your tool touches the real thing, most of the surprises are already behind you.
