Always explain why before you hand out a tool
Handing someone a new tool with a link and a short note saying "use this now" almost never works, because people need to understand the reason before they'll actually change how they work. I never skip explaining the why myself anymore, after watching a perfectly good tool get quietly ignored simply because nobody said what problem it was solving. Take a few minutes to explain what problem the tool solves, why you picked it over doing nothing, and what you hope changes once people start using it. People who understand the reason behind a change stick with it through the awkward early days, while people who were just told to use something quietly drop it the first time it feels annoying. This small step costs you almost nothing but saves weeks of half-hearted, inconsistent use later. A clear reason turns a mandate into something people actually choose to keep doing.
Try this today: before rolling out your next tool, write two sentences explaining why it matters and share those alongside the tool itself, not instead of a real conversation.
