Keep a running list of clip-worthy moments
During any longer recording, I mark the exact moments that feel worth pulling out later, right as they happen, instead of trying to remember them afterward once the recording ends. A quick note with a rough timestamp is enough. By the time I sit down to edit, I already know exactly where to look instead of scrubbing through the whole file hoping something jumps out.
This matters because your memory of a long recording fades fast, and scrubbing through footage looking for good moments wastes real time you could spend actually editing instead. Marking things as they happen turns editing into a targeted task instead of a search through everything you made.
Try this today: keep a notes app open the next time you record anything longer than a couple of minutes, and jot a short note every time you say something you like. When you sit down to edit, start with those marked spots instead of watching the whole recording again from the beginning.
