Sort receipts and invoices without a person

Sorting and filing paperwork like receipts and invoices is a common reason small business owners consider bringing on part-time help, but it is also one of the most mechanical tasks in the whole business. The information rarely changes shape, the categories rarely change, and the whole job is really just moving things into the right bucket consistently. I moved my own receipts into a rule-based system the same way, and the categories never once changed.

This matters because paperwork sorting is exactly the kind of task where a person's attention is wasted. There is no relationship to manage, no judgment call to weigh, just a repeating pattern that a simple system can follow far more consistently than a tired person at the end of a long day. Freeing that task from your plate, or a team member's plate, opens up real time for work that actually needs a human mind.

Try this today: pick your current method for sorting receipts or invoices and replace one manual step in it with a rule that files things automatically based on where they came from.
