Put decision rights for your team in writing
Decision rights are a plain statement of who gets to decide what, written down so nobody has to guess. Without this, every choice quietly defaults back to the founder because nobody is sure whose call it actually is.
Teams without clear decision rights move slowly and cautiously, not because people lack judgment, but because guessing wrong feels risky when the lines were never drawn. A short written list removes the guesswork and lets people act with confidence. I wrote a short version of this for my own team, and the small questions that used to land on my desk fell off once everyone could see whose call it actually was.
Try this today: write a short list of the recurring choices your business faces, and next to each one put the name of the person who owns that call. Share it with your team so everyone, including you, stops guessing who decides what.
