Use a local model to clean text before cloud AI

One overlooked use for a local model is as a filter, not a final answer. Before sending a document or a set of notes to a cloud AI tool, run it through your local model first and ask it to strip out names, numbers, and anything identifying. What comes out the other side is safer to hand to a tool you do not fully control.

This turns a two-step process into something you barely notice after a while. The local pass takes a few extra seconds, and in exchange, the version that reaches a cloud tool carries far less risk if anything ever goes wrong on that end.

It is not a perfect system, and I still glance over what comes out the other side myself, since I've caught a name or two the first pass missed. But it closes a real gap in how most people currently use AI tools.

Try this today: take one piece of text you would normally send straight to a cloud AI tool, and run it through a local model first to strip out anything private.
