Say no by default to new asks in the moment

Saying no by default means your first response to a new request is to hold it, not to answer on the spot. It does not mean you refuse everything, it means you give yourself room to decide with a clear head instead of the pressure of the moment.

Owners who answer everything instantly end up overcommitted without ever meaning to be. Each yes felt small at the time, but stacked together they fill every open hour and leave nothing for the work that actually grows the business. I use a plain line now, let me get back to you, and I have noticed how much clearer my answer is once the pressure of the moment has passed.

Try this today: the next time someone asks you for something new, say you will get back to them by a set time instead of answering right away. Use that gap to decide with a clear head, away from the ask itself.
