Turn your own checklist into a workflow
If you already keep a mental or written checklist for a task, you are closer to an automation than you think. A checklist is really just a workflow that has not been built yet, since every step is already known, ordered, and repeatable. The gap between the two is usually just deciding which parts a tool can handle and which parts still need your eyes on them. I keep my own checklists in plain text for exactly this reason, since the moment one exists, most of the hard thinking is already done.
This matters because owners often assume automation means starting from nothing, when really it means translating something they already do by habit into a system that runs itself. That translation is far less work than people expect once the checklist already exists.
Try this today: pull up a checklist you already use for a routine task, and next to each step write whether a simple tool could handle it on its own or whether it still needs you personally.
