Cut the throat-clearing before you post

Almost every raw recording opens with a bit of warmup, a half sentence, or a line that only exists because you were still finding your footing. I cut all of it now, every time, before I even look at the rest of the clip. The real start of the piece is almost always a stretch later than where the recording actually began.

This matters because that warmup is dead time that costs you viewers before you have said anything worth hearing. People decide whether to keep watching within a moment, and a slow, unsure opening gives them a reason to leave early. Cutting straight to the point respects their attention and makes the whole piece feel tighter overall.

Try this today: watch the opening of your last recording and ask honestly whether anything in there needed to be said at all. If not, cut straight to the first useful sentence. Do this on every clip going forward and you will notice your pieces get sharper without losing a single real idea.
