A rough AI cut beats a blank timeline

Staring at an empty timeline is one of the biggest reasons editing sessions stall before they start. I notice it in my own work every time I open a project with no rough sequence to react to. Letting an AI tool build a rough first pass, even a rough one, gives you something to react to instead of something to create from nothing. Reacting is almost always faster than generating, which is why this small shift changes how long an edit actually takes.

This works even when the rough cut is far from right. You are not looking for a finished product on the first pass, you are looking for a starting shape you can push and pull into place.

Try this today: the next time you sit down to edit and feel stuck before you even begin, generate a rough automatic cut first and start your real editing from there instead of from the raw files. Notice how much faster you move once there is already something on the screen to judge.
