What to bring to your next help session
Showing up to a help session with "I don't get it" wastes everyone's time, including yours. The people who get the most out of a session bring three things: exactly what they expected to happen, exactly what happened instead, and exactly what they already tried before asking. That turns a vague worry into a problem someone can actually solve with you.
This habit also works when you're asking a tool like Claude Code for help instead of a person. The more specific your description, the more specific the answer, and the faster you get back to building instead of explaining.
Try this today: before your next session, or your next question to any AI tool, write three short lines. What did you expect. What actually happened. What have you already tried. Bring those three lines instead of a general complaint, and watch how much faster the real answer shows up.
